Motorcycle exports crank up
Chongqing, a motorcycle manufacturing base in Southwest
China, exported 810,000 motorcycles to 67 countries and
regions in the first 11 months of 2000, an increase of 770
per cent over the number for the same period in 1999. Major
importers included Viet Nam, Indonesia, Iran, Bangladesh,
Argentina and Nigeria. The Lifanhongda Group, a privately
funded motorcycle manufacturer, has set up assembly plants
in Viet Nam, South Africa and Iran and opened a trade representative
office in Nigeria.
