Brief Introduction
Founded in July 1988, China Chamber of Commerce for Import
and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME)
is a corporate organization composed of economic entities,
who are independent legal person registered according to
law in China, and have the right to do foreign trade (including
enterprises with foreign investment). It has more than 3000
members now. In accordance with the provisions in Article
35 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of
China, the aim of the Chamber is to provide coordination,
guanaco, consultation and service. It organizes enterprises
in the trade to safeguard the national interests, protect
the lawful rights and interests of its members, maintain
normal trade order and promote the development of foreign
trade and economic cooperation on the basis of self-management
and self-restraint.
Main services provided by CCCME for its members
1. Working as a bridge and a link between government and
its members.
In accordance with member's request, put forward policy
advises and suggestions aimed at
promoting foreign trade and economic cooperation to government
departments concerned on
behalf of member enterprises on the basis of investigation
and analysis, so as to provide basis
for government departments concerned to formulate related
policies. Collecting and sorting out
difficulties and problems which its members have in import
and export trade, and reporting
them to relevant government departments to provide policy
basis for the government.
Maintaining close ties between members and departments
concerned, such as customs,
authorities for foreign exchange administrations, banks,
insurance companies, and authorities responsible for foreign
trade and economic relations. Providing services for member
enterprises to get loans, insurance and other policy-related
support.
Providing services entrusted by government departments.
2. Coordination and guidance
Mediating disputes among member enterprises and between
members and other Chinese
businesses, foreign commercial organizations and businesses
to safeguard members' lawful
rights and interests. Organizing members to respond to foreign
anti-dumping allegations against
our export commodities to protect members' legitimate interests.
Providing certificate for
members' foreign trade activities in accordance with international
practice.
3. Consulting and services
Providing members with all-round services for exploring
world market.
Establishing and strengthening links with foreign counterparts,
attending relevant international professional meetings on
behalf of the trade, carrying out international contacts.
Organizing members to participate in specialized exhibitions
in and outside China. Organizing investigations of domestic
and foreign markets and sales promotion activities. Organizing
foreign entrepreneurs, government officials and experts
to visit China and to have discussions and information exchanges
on market development, demand forecast and investment environment.
Setting up members' product brochure showcases at commercial
offices of Chinese embassies in various countries. Acting
as a go-between for cooperation between domestic businesses
and their foreign counterparts. --
* Publishing "CCCME News", "World Machinelectronics",
"Customs Statistics Analysis on Machinery and Electronic
Products", and "Analysis of Key Markets and Key
Products Export", on a periodical basis, which are
sent to member enterprises free of charge.
* Publishing serial electronic publication "China's
Machinery and Electronic Products Marching to the World
Market", with introduction to member enterprises included
free of charge.
* Utilizing the Chamber's extensive contacts with Chinese
embassies in foreign countries,
trade of institutions abroad, foreign chambers of commerce,
foreign embassies and consulates in
China, as well as foreign commercial institutions in China
to timely provide members with
information on clients' purchase demand, international market
movements, market
investigation report and trade statutes.
* In response to members' needs, holding training courses,
lectures, and seminars.
* Providing members with advisory services concerning foreign
trade policies and statutory
provisions of the State, as well as concerning internal
work of the Chamber.
* CCCME has formed China Machinery and Electronic Exports
Certification Service United
Office jointly with China Import and Export Commodities
Quality Certification Center. This
Office has set about members-oriented certification services
in three major systems, in addition
to being qualified for consulting and training with respect
to product certification (e.g., "CE",
"UL"), quality system certification (e.g. "ISO9000")
and environmental protection system
certification (e.g., "ISO14000").
* In cooperation with the Central Arts and Crafts Institute,
offering members with enterprise
image and product image planning services.
Internet service and "www. Chinamet.com"
www.chinamet.com., A Business to Business E-commerce Web
Site, provides member enterprises with more information
consulting services and multiple service modes:
1. Free online release and display of members' products;
2. Online demand and supply hot-line service;
3. Online release of cooperative projects and project bidding;
4. Timely online release of commercial news and information;
5. Online business talks;
6. Online commodities auction and united purchase;
7. Timely online release and consulting of policies and
statutes;
8. Realizing E-commerce when domestic conditions are mature.
Electronic publication service
In order to publicize the achievements in foreign trade
of machinery and electronic products, China's high-quality
machinery and electronic products and member enterprises
of CCCME more extensively and more vividly, CCCME, making
full use of computer multimedia technique, has since 1996
edited and published four titles of CD-ROM series, entitled
"China's Machinery and Electronic Products Marching
to the World Market" with the title inscription written
by Minister Shi Guangsheng of MOFTEC.
The 1st volume of the series gives information on China's
import and export of machinery and electronic products in
recent years;
The 2nd volume of the series carries laws and regulations
of China that govern the import and export of machinery
and electronic products;
The 3rd volume of the series gives a presentation of machinery
and electronics enterprises that have obtained ISO9000 series
system qualification;
The 4th volume of the series recommends China's quality
machinery and electronic products and exporters in 2000.
Besides, this Chamber has also edited and published Statistical
Analysis of China's Imports and Exports of Machinery and
Electronic Products on floppy disks in series to meet member's
needs.
